Folding Color

The Folding Color series emerged after drawing dragon scale textures for my child’s room, and appreciating the 3-dimensionality on a flat surface. The use of a grid pattern was utilized in response to grid systems, which are commonly used in digital design to carefully control the appearance of surfaces. In the Folding Color series, the grid is allowed to be imperfect and random. The hand-painted watercolor wash, embraces imperfection and makes the final resulting painting unpredictable.
